The challenge is on the table. Who really is the fastest? The debate started with plyngntrffc and Loumo (formerly the fastestcorneringcarhere) so they will be the main competitors for the challenge but everyone is welcome to see who is fastest.
The challenge will be run at the next Gainesville track event.
The format: Make 3 practice runs(including mandatory slow first run). Then each competetor will be given 3 timed runs to score their fastest time. The driver with the single fastest time during their 3 runs will be crowned the winner. Since being a fast driver has as much to do with knowing the fastest line as adapting to new terrain only the 3 practice runs will be given.
The winner: Winner will receive one 44oz wild cherry slurpee and all the respect to go along with it. (the loser will be able to make excuses, make fun of the winner and do whatever it takes to regain his ego)
The competitors:
Loumo (formerly thefastestcorneringcarhere) car: mkIII Jetta VR6 Driver: Lou mods: coilovers, and various aesthetics
The race could be good. Both drivers have limited experience in racing situations. Lou has made passes through the Tail of the dragon as well as many drag races. Josh has made a few track events and has shown some respectable times.
i like this challenge, i want to enter, and i think that one thing needs to be changed. we either need to do it at an autocross or wait untill they have timing equip. i've tried timing people there, and it's hard to be exact, and when we dispute over tenths of a second, we can't have any mess-ups in the timing apartment. i think the autocross is where it needs to happen, they do a great job of timing and keeping everyone equal.

Yea you guys have a good point with the timing. An autox will also put more pressure on driving skill than gainesville will. So what event do you guys want to do it at? Brookesville on Jan 7 or Deland on Jan 21?
Ok 2 things first I cant go to a auto x cause my front hubs on both sides are messed up and i have abroken bolt in one and the other is stripped. So I have no choice but to run at gainsville. Now if you want a timer we can have one person who has to time and stay in the same spot.
Second is there a rule on tires? Cause i can go on street tires but if there is no rules i have a set of falkens that have one track day left on them.
also, if we are going to be running at gainsville all day, we need to make an adjustment. we are going to be at the track almost all day, i think that we should do more than three timed laps. i say ten laps, but if i were making the rules rather than suggestions, i would say 15 time laps, and 5 practice.
this is why i say we run 15 timed laps. it will better prove who is more skilled at driving. see, if we do three laps, and some puts down a fast lap what does that prove, that he ran a fast lap, but can he explain what he did differently than his other two? if someone can run a consistant fast lap over and over, and know what he is doing, it shows that he is a better driver than someone who runs 45's,48's,43's,50's, etc. it should look like this 43,43,42,43,44,43,42,42,43,44,etc. also it wouldn't be a consecutive 15 laps. instead we should break it down in to 3 or 5 lap sessions with time between to let the cars cool off.

how about the average of your 4 fastest times over the entire the day? That will keep the timing more forgiving since its gonna be stopwatched and it will keep someone from winning with just one freak fast run. And it will keep itinteresting because the guy thats losing will be hot lapping all day and break his car.
So who wants to be the official time keeper?
and who knows when the next G-ville is?
and who else is gonna race? I know I will and lucas and i think there was a guy on that other forum that wanted to
ps: thanks for the loaner turbo viet. I'm definately getting my fun out of it
