i took the head off of the y8 block. the cylinder walls looked pretty good. you could still see some of the cross hatching on them. The y8 looked pretty clean also. no bent valves or anything like a certain head i got before. only thing i see wrong with the head is that the valve cover doesn't have a gasket. dan said something about having bad valve seals, but i dont know how to check for those.
I think tomorrow I'm going to try to pull the oil pan off and hopefully get a look at the crank and stuff. I might also try to take my z6 head off see what is up with that.
Uber is great....if you're only gonna boost to 11psi or so. Chrome is better for bigger boost as well as down low. Chrome Pro is worth it!!! Chrome FTW!!!!
You using a 2.5 or 3 bar MAP sensor yet??? If not, I recommend the Motorola 2.5 or the SVE 3 bar from Tuner Toys.
Rota92 on turboD16 is selling some cool stuff relating vacuum and Map sensor stuff. Things like a Golden Eagle look alike vacuum manifold with your desired amount of vacuum source fittings already installed and custom MAP sensor adaptors (aka missing links) with fittings and hardware installed to eliminate CELs & run straight to your new 2.5 or 3bar sensors.
i'm currently on the stock map sensor, but i plan on getting after the motor build. i'm kind of iffy on the crome pro thing. Does the $150 price cover the updates or will you have to pay a few more bucks for each update? oh another program i've been looking into is neptune. its still in the works but i hear it should be coming out soon. supposedly you can tune each individual cylinder, which is really nice. There is also a real time burning/tuning that comes with it. theres a bunch more...another thing is that you can add 4 inputs like 4 egt pyrometers which is also a nice feature. the list goes on. neptunes website the only thing i'm worried about on neptunes how much it might cost.
so i found a way to datalog without buying crome pro. theres a program out called FreeLog that is dedicated to just datalogging. So I'll most likely use the free crome along with free log to do some tuning. I may step it up to crome pro or neptunes later on. Now i just gotta figure out how to setup freelog.

So I came home at around 3:00ish this morning. I was all tired and ready to goto sleep. Then I found some packages waiting for me on my bed. It was all the stuff i order last week and a $30 mail in rebate that i mailed in like a month ago! lol. It felt like opening presents with coll stuff inside.
One crappy thing is though instead of the ACL bearings I got a set of king bearings. I heard they were comparable to the ACLs so i'm not too worried.
Oh I also ordered a set of eagle rods. they should be in by next week. then i can actually get the ball rolling on the build. I still need to get a set of head studs and a few misc things. i can take pics of all the goodies if you guys want to see it!
Looking good man, having a job help out doesnt it?LOL Hey so Danny wants to know about how much you spent so far and how much did you plan on spending cause he needs to rebuild his motor and is debating on rebuilding it or selling the car.
hmm for all the stuff you see there it was around $550ish. most of the money went into those rods $320!!. what kind of build does he want? I think i want to spend like $200 - $300 more. If I could spend less thats cool.
a job is cool, but my car broke because of my job... lol

absolutely, but theres a problem. if i use a the y8 block with a z6 i have to use nine y8 studs and one z6 stud. either i buy 2 sets of studs or go with the 9 studs and one bolt deal.
