Well i dunno if my motor is going to last for too much longer. Earlier tonight it started stalling it just about at all the stops I maked. Reminded me of the AFC all over again lol. Yeah so umm if you guys know anyone or hear anything about a d16 for sale LMK.
Danny in orlando has a head and some other parts for his car that he never used. Ill ask him and get back to you. He is also wanting to sell parts from his car to and maybe part it out.
if ur willing so spend money i would get a d15b vtec, awesome lil motor, un less u r planning to boost or r u boosted? i do not know. anyways if u plan on staying n/a for awile i recommend that motor
oh i was messing around with the idle it helps a little bit but it still does it. hmmm maybe i should do my compression test to see how bad it is. so i can just throw salt on my giant wound. lol.
I don't know of a y8 that doesn't knock over time. LoL Especially boosted, high milage, etc.
Minnesota aka Minnesnowta or Minnecolda here checking in.
I'm swapping soon....before I move down to Orlando and join up w/ Neal aka mimi03gti. I'll keep the y8 after the swap of course so if you still need one when I finally get down there I'll hook ya up. It's pretty much in need of a major overhaul though. It's been through it's days. Deal ":cough cough:" LoL
i say u get some vitaras, tt rods, new bearings, polish the crank ,and get some heads studs and a cosmetic gasget... maybee even a fresh hone and turn up the boost
right now i just need something....cuz i got bad news. My luck is the best for **** to happen. What that means is that my motor decided to give up on me like a little douche bag. so yeah i really just need a working motor.
i think it spun a bearing. it still fires up and all, but you can here something bouncing around inside the motor. its slow as balls to even in boost lol. All I know is that its not a good sound. But there is good news though... jon has a nice little piece to show you guys!
"$50 bucks for a local pickup. since i do not work at my dad's shop anymore, this thing is going to rot this winter unless someone takes it from me soon. if any of you nc, tn, sc, va, guys would like to own a z6 shortblock that came out of a running car for fifty measly dollars, please feel free to get in touch with me and you may take it off my hands. it's got the oil pan on it, the breather box is on it. the water pipe and thermostat housing is on it. please come get this thing and save the sohc's"
So yeah i got a hold of Dan's y8 motor, but theres this giant hole in the back of the block. looked like there use to be something like a freeze plug or something. I looked the service manual and I think theres this oil breather that goes there. I just wanted someone thats knows something that can verify that. I rather be 100% sure before I do something stupid.
If its for an oil breather is it alright to just put some type of filter over it so it isn't wide open.
the "y" generation blocks are more proned to spun bearings. basically due to smaller oil passages, it does not flow as much a z6... i reccomend doing something like this

What you're talking about is where parts of the stock PCV system used to be. As far as plugging it or simply putting a filter on there somehow....I don't know if that's good or not. I've heard of people w/ boost gutting out the stock pcv valve and using it as a fitting to run a line to a vented catch can. Under boost on a honda, the pcv system is usless anyways cause it's a vacuum operated valve. Lots of info regarding this on turbod16.com.

yeah the thing i that i dont have the valve. its just a gapping hole. i think I'll see if I can get somethign to plug it or some how run a catch can from it.
oh I've got a honda service manual. it was just a little hard to follow the diagram.

I would try to find a stock black plastic box that plugs into that hole. That way you wouldn't have to worry about trying to custom fit something there. I would also get a PCV valve from the dealership.....gut it out by jamming a screw driver in there & poping all the internals out ie: the valve, spring & a few other tiny pieces. From there you can use the pcv valve as the fitting to run a hose to a catch can. Then also run a hose from your valve cover to that catch can as well.
No more crank case pressure related issues anymore after that. That seems to be a fairly big deal w/ turbo hondas. Plus no more dirty, burnt up oil being dumped back into your intake track. Just make sure you get a vented catch can and not one of the sealed ones. A perfect example would be the one the Endyn makes.
If you haven't checked out turbod16 or honda-tech yet, do so. You'll find so much info on how to do it right for turbo d projects.
