new project?

I'm not 100% positive on this yet, but I made an offer for $800 and he accepted it. My grandfather and I have been talking about a cheap fun project car for quite some time, and I think I've found it. Josh is the current owner, he brought it over this morning and I did a wash and quick wax on it....it really needed it. There's some minor rust right by the rear window's, it needs an alignment, misc. trim pieces, a radio, paint, and ac. Nothing I really need to drive, and after all....it's a project. So, enough jibber jabber, here's the pics...

well, buying this means the 5er is going to sit a tad more, and this will be the project/fun car.  The guy I got it from is including a set of eibach springs, so I need to source some shocks/struts.  That'll take care of the "slam" and really improve the ride.  Scary thing is, the suspension already kicks ass on the car.  I'm gonna transfer the sub and amp from the 540 over, and I'm not sure which car is going to get the new radio.  After the suspension goes in, we're going to have an alignment done.  Some nicer wheels are a must.  I'm going to replace all the trim that's missing, and hopefully switch to euro bumpers at that point.  They're smaller and don't look like a diving platform on the front of the car.  The clutch and shifter feel very tight, so that's not a worry for now, but an SSK would be nice.  Car has an intake, and I dont' know if it's just a busted muffler, but the exhaust SCREAMS, and I love it.  We'll see what to do about that.  I'm gonna make some calls, and price paint jobs.  When it comes time to paint, I'll take care of those pesky minor rust spots beneath the windows, and the couple of small dents in the doors.  Much further down the line....perhaps an M20 (2.5L I6 out of E30 325i's) swap and FI would be fun.  But that's MUCH MUCH further down the line.

talked to previous owner before "josh" and found out some things.  the "scream" is from a magnaflow muffler with 2.25 in. piping, and a no CAT.  Car used to have a Kamei front spoiler....and I need to source another one.  I've about got the car back up to it's previous shine, I just have some parts I need to re-polish.  We went for a ride, and I thought he was going to cry....he misses her.

he sent me some pics from her "glory days":
