CHIP TUNING

i've been reading a lot on the flexibility of some of the chips with lemmiwinks, and adj. FPRs...blah blah blah

turns out people are getting some really good results. a good setup i have seen is

Revo Big Turbo software
3bar map-->no MAF
Adjustable Fuel Press regulator
and lemmiwinks and a vag com

when we were discussing how with lemmiwinks etc, doesnt do rpm based tweaks, i dont think we were giving the stock ecu adaption enough credit. using a adj. fpr and lemmiwinks based on values read from your vag, you can get some nice a/f curves.

first step they do is tuning WOT. basically they go out and do a 3rd gear pull to redline watching egt, wideband etc. and using the FPR, dial in the WOT A/F. Trick is to reset the ecu between each run to prevent adaptation.

next you drive around town allowing the ecu to adapt to whats going on. then you go into the vag com and read block 032. this is your fuel adaptation values in a percentage. you then go back to lemmiwinks and change your primary and secondary fuel tweak values until your ecu is adaption value is between pos. and neg. 10%.

apparently this ends up working very well. also this allows you to change the fule values to accomodate:

different boost levels
different MAF housing if you choose to use one
different MAP
different Injectors

probably some other stuff. I know its not standalone, but it is looking like a very nice (easy, somewhat flexible, safe) setup. i think some of hte problem is that people dont use these methods, they just stick to chipping the car and driving it to work. :cough: viet :cough:

anyway, let me know what you think

sounds pretty cool to me. I think that after we get my car running on megasquirt and get a good understanding of the basics of ecu controls and tuning then we will have more experience with tuning and tweaking fuel amounts, so we can play with your car's stock ecu and get it producing the a/f curves we want. it does sound like a kind of cool idea being able to keep the car's stock curve and all its functions but somewhat piggybacking it to work better. I think you should try it.

we should time with the slowdel after we get a wideband and you should definatley get that datalog thing and see what else uberdata can do

times like this make me love my diesel!!! why don't you go with a carburetor? if it will make you feel better, i'll engrave vag-com on the screw driver used to adjust it! j/k
