.48kpa is what my safc told me, its like 8 or 9 pounds of boost. i turned the boost controller off for the way home cuz i didnt wanna get into programing it last night, and i guess when its off it lets you boost as much as you can. i wasnt gonna take it past 8. i got to a light and i just wanted to feel what 8lbs was like so when it turned green i took off. i think i was at like 7lbs when i shifted into 2nd, and then it climbed pretty quick back up to 6, then 7, then 8, and it was pulling so nice. i was very pleased.....and a few moments later i heard a THUNK! so i let off the throttle and when i got back on it itwouldnt boost any more. i thught it might have been that line from the wastegate that was loose, like it came of or something, but when i got home i checked and all the lines, hoses, and pipes look connected. so i'm pretty sure its a blown turbo.
we have another 15g at work, i'm trying to decide if i should just get that and replace the turbo, or sell all of the turbo and stuff and get an engine swap. it would be nice to build up a B16 or somethin......then later down the road maybe turbo that. who knows, i gotta see what my financial status tells me i can do first i guess.
thats wierd that you heard a clunk and it stopped boosting. does it sound funny or burn oil or smoke? it could be something like the wastegate actuator falling off the wastegate. did you check all of the pipe connections? that does suck though
that is odd...sounds exactly like a hose or something popped off. i'd say check again, and the actuator like jon said. it doesnt seem like the turbo would clunk going bad.
hmm that is weird.....just take the turbo off and see whats up with it. or take the intake part off then see if there is any excessive play in the turbo. maybe is one of the many connections from the fuel pressure regulator or whatever it is.
yeah i think saturday i'm gonna find out what exactly happened. so you guys are welcome to help me out!lol
yeah if i do a swap i was gonna sell the whole turbo set-up, use that money towards the swap. i think i'm pretty set on getting a b16, preferrably a 2nd gen.
