Hmm well i was thing about manifold and stuff, but was wondering if anyone has any ideas on designs of one. I think the ones that look like the ram horns, but I don't think the placement of the external wastegate is that great. What would be cool is having the least amount of piping from the manifold to the TB and having a good external wastegate placement. I think the best place for it is where all four runners at least give an equal amount or air to it. so where ever that it.
Alright I got one idea. Runners 1 & 2 will merge and 3 & 4 will merge. Then those two will merge into one. I don't know where the external wastegate would go, but what do you guys think? I was also thinking that the piping would gradually get bigger after each merge. Let me know what you guys think. If you guys need diagram of i'll try to make one.
there are a ton of examples online. here's some i found, you can pick which one you want......then figure out how to make it.....haha
eh, there's more i cant find right now
I aslo found this re: where to mount the ext. wastegate "If you have a standard 5 bolt turbine housing, get a flange with the internal WG hole. then weld a piece of pipe and a WG to the end. This is simply the most correct way to do it."
i want to do one too. something like the first one would probably be best for my car where the runners go down and then loop up. although i think we should work on viet's car first because he has a nice manifold to fall back on. also it would give us some practice
Then thing about all those manifolds is the placement of the wastegate. I thought you wanted and equal amount of air from each of the runners to go into wastegate so it can work more accurately.
I'd like to have something that would also has the least amount of piping from the block to the throttlebody. Theres gotta to be a way to get way less amount of piping then what you have already shown. If I were to go a/w intercooler then that'll help a lot because then we could place the intercooler anywhere, even right after the turbo. But A/W is expensive.
So far the best that I think that i have seen is this
Only if it was used with an a/w intercooler. This is for my car though. It'll probably be different for the A4. You could probably go with one of the ones already posted or have something like this but going the other way, which I think would be towards the front of your car.
Try making your own setup w/ the least amount of piping and a better placement of WG.
