Yesterday(Wednesday), I decided to go riding on the Oviedo/Seminole trail. I had purchased a fancy road bike a few weeks back, and have been riding on the trail since then. So here I am, I come up to one of the street crossings, I stop, there is a Woman in a van to my right, she comes up to the stop sign she has, and stops. Ok, my turn, so I start to pedal, and lo and behold, the woman in the nice minivan decides she doens't need to be stopped anymore. Something I never thought I'd have to say, but I got hit by a fuggin car. Definiately one of the least pleasureable moments in my life. I got money from her for the bike, I have all her insurance info and address and all, went to Centra-Care, no broken bones, just two huge contustions on my right leg, and I can barely walk.
It wasn't until I got home, that I realized from people telling me, that I need to go to the hospital, and call the police. It's ironic, everyone on the phone for the police asked me why I didn't call right then? My response, "Ma'am, it's not as if I just got jostled around in a car, I was THROWN off my bike, I'm willing to bet my judgement was a little askew." So we'll see what happens.
But here is what I have to say about it.. I wasn't wearing a helmet, and after the woman stoppped, I had to pull, very hard, to get my bike out from under her car. It could have been very, very much worse. I rode BMX for like 4 years, I know how to bail, thank god. But, I was pretty proud of myself for this, I put a hole in her a/c condenser, winnar! That's all. Here is a tip, let the cars go first...people are retarded.
Dude thats crazy. You're not supposed to get hit by mini-vans! Good thing you're ok and good thing you put a hole in her condenser. I agree people are retarded. Florida is probably the worst place to ride a bike. People just dont comprehend that bikes actually exist. It seems like most people would yield to a lizard crossing the road rather than a guy on a bike.
well, surprisingly, the frame and forks are perfectly ok, as are the bars. Honestly, all it really needs are wheels, and a new front gear set. I was very, very impressed. I'll take pictures.
