My friend Tom called me up last night and told me he got this car for free but we had to go tow it off the interstate that night. Its a 89 Toyota Cressida. We went out there and popped the hood and took a look. My first thought was "2 JayZ's????" but then I realized its a 7m and the car is RWD. We towed it back and looked at it. The problem is either a bad battery or broken timing belt or something. The rest of the car is in good shape.
So Project CFTCDRFT might be starting soon and we can start doing drift events.
thats cool. so wheres the car at now? lol that tow strap looks familiar. yeah i haven't seen Tom in a while you should get him to hang out with us more often.
meh, i guess its not bad for free, too bad its a ghey soccer mom mobile, better not let Afrikuh see this, he'll probably pull a "joe"
Why? Do you know anything about these cars?
No but you shurly hate them...like always. MY GOD ITS NOT A VW!!! WATCH OUT!@!!@@@!@#@$#!~!
Its a MkIII supra with 4 doors. Which almost all of the drivetrain parts will cross over to it. You can get coilovers, stuff in massive staggered wheels and a 1J is a weekend affair. 800 hp I6 on the stock bottom end makes me want to puke too, let me tell you what.
But the hardest part to make it slide, is the clutch master cylinder. Just doesnt fit with the strut towers. But people cut and weld the firewall back a little to make the room and it works out pretty damn good.
what confuses me the most about darren is he is asain and he still doesnt know anything about a cool JDM car when he sees one. He has a riced out z and a trendy CRX. Also has a everybody club MKIII..................
So much for being cool, sorry about your luck darren you get a F in my book
so we have a project car we can keep in tampa? awesome! it'd be a sweet sleeper-drifter. if no one has anywhere to keep it then we can keep it at my house (if we get the house). if everything goes good then we should close by december 1st. ANYWAY, i think the car is a pretty sweet find. can't wait to see it in person.

Awesome dude. Its at Tom's friend's house now but we can only keep it there for a little while.
Dang Ian that second car almost makes me want to trade the A4 for one. One sick car for sure.
Viet: you want to go out there Wed and check the compression and see whats up with the motor?
sure i actually have off Wednesday i think.. lol well i usually do. would be cool to have a drift car, but we should probably get the mr2 running and sorted out first.

Actually, I do know quite a bit about the car, I live with someone who masterbates to the thought of it, so I hear enough **** about it to know whats up
Great, its a RWD car, great its "JDM" but in the end, who the cares, its a damn family sedan, might as well be drivin a buick with a 572, in fact my grandma's friend had a cressida, I just dont understand whats so special about it, its like an srt-4, yea its fast, yea it makes some power, but in the end its still a ghey neon
And about the VW thing, i'm not one of those people who think VW is life, I can see outside the box which is why I've owned many different makes of cars in the past and present
I just dont understand what everyone see's in this car

Now explain to me how my Z is riced out, last time i checked, ur jetta still has rice boy wheels on it, and if you hadnt traded it would probably still have a grey door on it, i dont understand why you feel the need hate on other peoples stuff just because they dont agree with you, i dont care, you can think what you want, at the end of the day, I can come home to my own house, not my parents and I have 3 cars (4 if you count the sand rail) that I own and paid for, i'm not gonna get into this anymore, i'm done with this pissing contest

No Jon, keep your car. But I know how you feel, I have wanted a cressida for the longest time now, but its a good project car, but it would take alot to make it a great daily toy.
But I think you are on the right path to a great project car, something that takes well you welding and custom fabing. Well, because there really isnt that much of a aftermarket for it, but still can be made to be cool.

so we checked out the car some last night and i think we decided that the motor is seized. we assume this because it doesn't turn over and the previous owner never really did oil changes. So there might be a nice motor & tranny swap on the way for it.
1UZ with itb's would be so sick! but I think we should go for less fabrication on this project since there is a little more than no funding and we need to get it going sideways as soon as possible.
So what other motors are available for the cressida?
Yeah I would most likely try and go for a 1jz if I were in your position.
Should bolt in, and most likely better then a 7m. Which are notorious for headgasket probs, though in my experience a I think its a little blown out of proportion. From the factory though they pretty much all blew up till Toyota figured out they fed up and released updated torque specs.
Dont know jack bout trannies and drive shafts, but the motor itself will bolt right in either way, 7m/1j. Should be cool.
And how much does this thing weigh, idk about all that 3s stuff, its cool and all, but I have just never really understood putting that in a fr car over a inline six, just to be different? I would rather be fast/reliable then different.
Only thing is 1js never came stock here so parts might be slightly more difficult to obtain then others. Though Im sure some are shared components with 2js.
A 3sge would be cool to have especially with the 6speed tranny. Not to mention the weight savings and redistribution. Correct me if i'm wrong but I think all the altezza 3sge are BEAMs motors which make a nice 200hp+ NA. Too bad it cost ****loads of money to ship over here let alone to buy it.
lol Ian whats up with the broke back mountain cowboy in your avatar?
A Beams would be sick. But a little know secret. The tranny from the Altezza is the same as the Aisin 6 speed out of the Miata. The bell housing can be taken from 22R(E) and will fit on the back of the 3S.
Problems with the beams: cost, parts availability and stupid-difficult can-bus fuel management. Chrysler's ran can-bus.. nice if you have the proper diagnostic tools ($6000 StarScan), but if you don't, haha sucks to be you.
A GTE would be nice because you can get them for pretty cheap and they are good for 400-450 with a studded block and cometic HG (cams and shimless buckets wouldn't hurt either).
"You smell that? Do you smell that? Napalm, son. Nothing else in the world smells like that. I love the smell of napalm in the morning. You know, one time we had a hill bombed, for twelve hours. When it was all over I walked up. We didn't find one of 'em, not one stinkin' dink body. The smell, you know that gasoline smell, the whole hill.... Smelled like... victory."
