i have been looking into and researching "bagged" vehicles, and it turns out you can use air to improve performance.. (and looks duh). i have been talking to someone via vortex about bagged mk4s and he offered me a complete kit "sponsorship" with digital control for a greatly discounted price..... the kit retail is around $3100.. thought it would be kinda cool, but id have to dig for some money to get this kit.. so id like more feedback..
i found a few but nothing great... its all bolt on, except you do have to grind out a "hump" in the metal of the rear wheel tubs to mount the new bracket. the kit has full dampening ability, and the guy im talking to said the front bags at 80psi, shocks full stiff, rear at 100psi, mid level dampening, handled better than coilovers and a rear sway... sounds fun to me
Sport Compact Car put that suspension on a WRX a few years back... Cool and everything but two installments latter they junked it for coilovers. Their verdict, better overall ride and better handling with the coilovers. But the difference I guess is they were trying to make the WRX into a half street and half track car, and the air ride just didnt take bumps at high corner speeds that well. But if you are looking for a more looks and no track time, I really think it would be the way to go.
I know alot of guys on the VIP car forums run air ride(GS300, LS400, Q45 ect) so that might be a good place to look for answers. They have their cars dumped on their nuts and they still ride (comfort) like they were stock.
SO, cliff notes. They dont handle better than coilovers. But they look great and feel like stock.
