Happy 4th

so what did everyone do for the 4th of July? Andrea's dad has a heating/air conditioning business and does a lot of big buildings downtown and such and has access to these buildings so we got to watch the fireworks in st. pete from the roof of the 18 story Wachovia building dirctly in front of the pier. It was freakin sweet, you could see way out towards tampa and clearwater and you could see all kinds of fireworks goin off everywhere. It was one of the coolest things I've seen. heres a few pics from the action:

this was a few minutes before the show started, you can see all the boats around the pier, i'm sure all thos people had a nice view as well.

this was the first one:

i think this one is my favorite:

i snapped this one after the fireworks were done, this is looking down on the top of a parking garage as everyone was leavin.

This was our 4th of July. Woke up, late because of my b-day the night before. lol Then, drove out to melbourne, watched the shuttle launch, surfed, drove back to O-town, where we all piled in to Jamin's car to go watch the fireworks downtown. Crazy day...

I used a variation of the "black hat" technique. Basically you put the camera in bulb mode and hold it open, but while it is open you cover up the lens with something (ie black hat, black construction paper). I used my wallet. lol But it worked. You can also swivel the camera around the tripod while the lens is covered to offset each work of fire. (I need to do this next time... lol)
