Ok well you know how i am selling the bug well i found that in orlando for sale and lucas and i went to test drive it.

It is a fun car to drive sounds just like a VR6 but that is because it is a 2.5 v6. It has a super clean interior. Drives great, but it has its few problems, needs the cat taken off they are bad, new egr and vacum lines but other than that, it is a stock 98 SVT Contour. It is a really nice car that i am considering as my next. I also talked the guy down to 3500 but i think i can get it about 100 dollars lower.

What do you guys think, I like and lucas said to get it. I am thinking i might. It overall offers power and nice ride(until suspensions mods are done). on a scale of 1 to 10 i would have to say it is 7 pushing 8.

Some fun facts about the car, they only made 5000 a year with a 3 year production so there are only 15000 ever made. When the car came out it was tested against the VW GLX VR6(MKIII) the BMW 328 and Audi 2.8 A4(watch out Jon). They called it the poor mans euro car that can out perform all of the others in its class. Also so everybody knows the ford contour was designed in europe and tested and actually came out over there b4 it did in the states and it was named the Ford Mondeo.

So i am not selling out and going neck on you guys, no worries and the only way i can get the car is if the guy from tampa buys the car this weekend

ahh ok. It looks clean. I'd get it, but the idea of owning a ford would be weird.

I don't mean to be close minded, but I just have unavoidable preconceived notions about fords that I would not be able to dispel in any situation. But, it's not my car, so do what you want.

I like those cars but the guy i pitted for his car was nothing but problems, I dont maybe it was just the car set up. We went through 2 CV's and a set of brakes that got messed up from overheating. So i really dont know were that guy gets off saying his brakes are good.

i pretty sure he means that they perform pretty well. i can't say if they are bad or not but it i had purpose built car i wouldn't take my brakes lightly.

Dude..

I love SVT contours... they are quite nice. I had the pleasure of test driving one at work the other day. Really fun cars.

Yeah but in ITA which that car you posted is prepared for and the guy i pitted for, you have to run stock brake parts, or really close to oem, like you cant change the size but you can run crossdrilled and slotted rotors and race pads, and we had race pads and they would over heat in like 5 laps. Those cars are famous for that(said russ the guy i pitted for and he has raced sentras for about 6 years now), so if he has an upgrade it only means to me that his car is not competative cuase he will never finish in the top 5 cause all top 5 cars are impounded after ever race to make sure they are in spec. So that means if he upgraded the brakes he will always be DNF'ed. So if i were to buy a race prep car i would want something competative. Not that the SVT will be a competative car but who knows.

Think of it like this full race pads need to run at a certain temp so by putting cross drilled rotors on the car you are going to release all the gasses that you need to build that certain temp, so what you are gonna do is run a oem regular rotor and run a full race pad. If i am correct using the stock oem type rotor you will hold the heat and gasses needed to make that temp. that car has no way to let the rotors cool cause the way there are designed and the brakes then over heat. You can run cooling ducts but that only does so much.

i dunno but the guy said he finished in 3rd at sebring and 4th at daytona and only says he has changed pads. But for bad brakes and 3rd and 4th place finished it seems too be a competitive car too me.

Well I know its wierd but i think the only person i ever told this to was Lucas, I love 4 door euro cars. I know the contour is american but if you look up the history on it, it is a euro car. I really want a MKIII VW Jetta VR6. The thing is that I want a white Jetta with clack leather. I really really want one but i cant find the right one and i know that if i wait i can get the one i want. The contour is not the car i ever expected to want to get, but they always caught my eye and they are really nice. All I need now is the guy to come from tampa and actually like my car and buy it. So for those of you who want me to get this car as a new project keep your fingers crossed that the guy buys my car this weekend.
