gainsvilla track day

Well, i've just returned, very tired. this is very long you might just want to ask me in person!

it was a success. there were 50 cars including my bug at the track. two turbo'd cooper S's that thought they were the sh*t and one other mini came that i had to worry about. Leaving Downtown Mini at 5pm, everyone was eager to get out there, and it was very evident at the speeds they held while going out there. topping 130mph at one point. i cruised out at 80mph, no rush. finding everything was easy, and me and vann met everyone else at the hotel. all everyone was talking about, the drive over, how fast they were going and draft and all this i think i'm cool BS because i drove like a dip sh*t. anywho, they start drinking about 7pm.

they take to the bar at ale house and everyone is over their limit except for me and Vann who seem to be the only one who care about tomorrow. my boss gets S-faced and puke's in the bar, and pukes a bunch more over the night. we got back and ordered Porn, because this is a company trip, and everything is paid for, of course you order porn!

For some reason everyone feared my bug, like it had some huge turbo, and amazing amounts of power, i kept saying this to every statement, "man your gonna kill everyone", we'll see is my reply. well everyone was on time for some reason, and Per Schroeder of Grass Roots MotorSports. he brought his h-stock mini with R-compounds, and now 1st place is already taken.

starting out at 9am, my fresh azenis were cold, and not broken-in. everything was ran auto cross style, not like a track event. they split the course in have, one side was a straight with a long slalom horse shoe to the right, and long slalom back-up. the other side used more of the course. starting out, you have 10ft before your 90ddrge left, into a mid 2nd gear straight, (thats what it would be for you guys, for me it was a 3rd gear) into a 90drge left and a short stab of the throttle into a 90drge right into another short stab, into a 4 cone slalom, dumping into the decreasing radius, double apex turn (a long 180drge bend, decreasing radius, into a immediate chicane) and exit into a short straight with a stop box that you had to completely stop to be clocked. that is course B, the other is A.

I started at B, and the morning no one really did very good. per set the best lap of 34.xx my best was 36.xx after 5 runs. per's wife kim did 36.xx in their mini, and one other cooper S got a 36.xx but that was his best run he stayed in the 39's and 38's (has 6 track days under his belt), i did one 37.xx but stayed consistant. Vann had a John Cooper Works edition brought from out dealership. his best was 39.xx.

We got to switch courses and things starting geting better. pers runs were a 32 and a 31, he averaged a low 32. my times were both 32.72, and i had the next best average. (3 practice laps, 2 timed runs.) vann had a good lap of 32.72 but stayed in the 33's. the best that other pack of mini's did that ran it in the morning was a 32. both turbo'd S's where in the opposite group as i. so they had their chance, the yellow one has 350hp, and his best on 2nd track (which if your keeping track, would be like this. my group was on course B until lunch and switched with the other group that started at course A the slalom course. so when we switched the temp's were hotter and every one had a better idea of what they were doing) the yellow turbo'd car ran my time! i have maybe 140hp! the other turbo car ran a 37. oh and some one that knew what they were doing ran a 37 in stock cooper on stock skinny tires. comparing our times with the previous group showed the same thing, we were faster, because of the morning situations.

than they opened the track up, and it got faster but wasn't timed. we only got 3 runs on that track. my tires finally started gripping at the end and i started hauling. but it was the last lap of the last course. story of my life oh well!

recap! Per and his wife were the fast, and even they adimt, because of their tires. i came behind them followed by vann, and two other guys that raced before and as a hobby. i felt pretty good considering that this was my first time doing something like this. anyways i had fun and want to go back!
