So as of right now the entire motor is complete disassembled and cleaned. Why has it come to this point? Carnage: The #1 one cylinder was tested for compression. Dry it came to 32 PSI. Wet (75w90 Gear oil poured into the combustion chamber) 85 PSI. At that point we knew a tear down was needed. I later tested the rest of the cylinders wet, #2 106 #3 115 #4 96. The reason was the head gasket. The #1 had a crack around the cylinder liner in the gasket and the gasket was expanded. The crack allowed the cylinder pressure leaked into the oil valley at the end of the block. On top of that, all of the coolant valleys were leaking, which is bad because they made their way to the head bolts, rusting out 4 of them. One of them was rusted enough that it snapped when I was trying to take it off (super awesome). Finally, there was enough play on the #1 and #2 rod bearing, that there had to be some rod knock.
Good news, the cylinder walls and pistons look great, the head is crack free and the entire motor cleaned up really nice. So once the parts start coming in, I will start putting it back together.
Chunks in the pick-up. Yum Yum.

I took all the big bits and the 6 Plastic Bottles (And 4age Parts) box to work with me today. Had three parts washers going. I think everything turned out really well. The only hard part was putting up with all the rednecks I work with.
All the parts as they came out of the final wash.
Thank you Greenway. Bottom of the block and oil pump housing
90% of the carbon came of, the discoloration is from the parts washer.
Aint she pretty. Bling.
All the carbon came off the intake valves and the combustion chamber really cleaned up, but the exhaust valves are another story. I have the entire chambers soaking in gas overnight (not whats pictured).
I see London...
I think I am going the run the head through the parts washer some more tomorrow.
I have been having problems where the pictures have been uploaded...so I hope you can see them.
