i guess i should post up what happened. Well i was driving back from school to go pick up my calc book that i left at home. on my way back i was stuck behind some slow ppl in the middle lane on i75. so i decided to switch to the left lane and pass them. So i dropped it into 4th and and got some boost. how much i dont know. next thing i know i hear this loub band and smoke shooting all over the place and oil flying all over my windshield. I could not see a damn thing out of my window. So I immediatley pulled and stop in the emergency lane right after the i-4 exit. I poped the hood to find a fresh new coat of oil all over everything. I checked the the turbo and the oil feed line and they looked to be fine. manifold looked ok too. I looked a little behind the turbo and could see my internals. I was no F5$#ing way. There was about a 1 -2 inch hole in my block.
hopefully i can borrow my bro's friend's motor for a little while until i get a new d16z6 or a bseries swap or a built D.
I'm definately not going to let that happen again. So if i get a stock d16z6 i'm going to get a piston and rods and hopefully I can get it dyno tuned.
got a new d16z6 chilling at jon's place and i got my car back at my apartment. now we just gotta find time to do the engine swap hopefully i can also figureout how to get to and from school and work.
wow its bigger then i really thought it was when i first saw it. now we gotta figure out why it happened. to much stress? inefficient intercooler or intercooler location? fuel or timing (doubt it)? too much power?
I guess we aren't going to know until this weekend.
well everyone is more then welcomed to help swapping the motor this weekend. actually jon is going to need some help while probably going to be at work for the weekend.
dude you gotta save me a piston with a rod on it or something. I want a cool paperwieght. good luck with getting the new motor in. this ones just going to be a temp motor right? you should run this one while you build up another so you dont ahve this crap motor in.
actually its another d16z6. i bought it for $240. i think i'm probably going to save up for pistons, rods, bears and etc then buy another motor to put it into. then i'll sell this motor off.
its going to be tough to save up all that money. its going to happen though. then i'll be way faster then before lol.

Question: Does your car do over 200 MPH??
Answer: No,
Response: Then you dont need a spoiler!
when we pull my motor hopefully i can salavge some stuff from it. at least i can sell of the extra intake manifold and throttlebody. If they head is still good i'll probably try to sell that. If you want it mike let me know. hopefully I can get some of the money i've spent for the new motor.
well still no working car yet. we got everything bolted up monday night, but the motor wouldn't start. we called it a night after finding out that we had spark and fuel. so we assumed it was a timing problem. While I was at work tuesday jon fixed the timing and trid to start the car. It still didnt start up. The he did a compression test and found out that cylinder one had no compression and cylinder 2 had low compression. The rest of the cylinders seemed ok. Tonight i thnk we are going to replace the head gasket and see if it fixes the problem. If it doesn't then i might need those pistons and rings back. lol or just the pistons might buy rods next week.
not yet. don't think i'm going to. i'll just post something up on TR or something. anyways we found out that the head wasn't really rebuilt it was just spray painted to look clean... wow what luck. When we pulled the head we found out that there was a bent valve on cylinder 3. so we switched back to my head and checked the compression and they were all good. I think they were all about 150 except for the fourth cylinder which was 140 . It still is good compression all across. the car runs, but we ran into some other problems. there is coolant entering the motor and it doesn't idle right. for coolant it maybe coolant line connection or the leak from the itake manifold ( probably because of gasket). So tomorrow i'll buy a new gasket and hopefully figure out whats up with the idle.
THE CAR IS BACK UP AN RUNNING!!!!!!!!!! after a long week of work and trouble shooting we finally got the sol back up and running. the last problem was the messedup intake manifold gasket. After driving for a little bit the weird idle went away it idles pretty smooth but every now and then it bounces. thanks to everyone that helped out and a big thanks to jon.
yea it was a nice feeling to get that thing moving again, especially after doing all that work on it like an engine swap and a head swap.
is it still running good? anything leaking or falling off? and hows the boost?
I did get one free slurpee for doing the intake manifold gasket. its was good the white cherry one. that was the highlight of my day there except maybe for driving the sol
everything is all good but i need to fix the boost somehow. Its going over 5psi. Besides that everything is ok just need to let the car warm up to get the idle going right.
