it's gettin hot man (still gots problems)

ok screw the a/c problem......for now......i replaced the spark plugs, air filter, oil and oil filter and i'm gonna replace the fuel filter tomorrow but my car still runs like ****. at idle or braking at low speeds it idles real low and usually stalls out if i don't feather the gas a little. i can't see why fuel management would be an issue and it can't be spark so it must have something to do with air right? i'm completely out of ideas right now.

my plan is to get new spark plugs, air filter, fuel filter, oil filter, and oil tomorrow and do it all saturday....and hopefully see the civic running a lot better.

the a/c thing is kinda weird. before it stopped working it would squeal for a few seconds every now and then, usually when it was raining. then one day when i turned it on it made a clunking sound i think (this was like 4 or 5 months ago) and ever since when its turned on it makes whirring noise? that the best i can describe it, to me it sounds like the belt broke and the pulley spinning free and causing that noise, but from what i can see all the belts are still there. so yeah....

Did you check around for any vacuum related problems? Seems like you covered the basics, so look into something a bit more tricky. I've had cars give me trouble at low engine speeds with blowned up vacuum connections. Just usually once the engine picks up speed you can barely notice. Something else to check.

check idle control, vacuum leaks. also, that whirring noise is your A/C comp. taking a ****! the bearing is going, check for voltage at the clutch, if it has power, you either need a compressor or a rebuild. you could also buy a set of A/C gauges to check pressures

i believe i still have my old a/c compressor too. i dunno if its a direct swap or not but its worth a try if yours is already shot.
