And honestly, the other specs aren't really all that bad. I post this, because there may be one in my very near future. That is all.
Those are good specs, especially 110hp with 8.0:1 compression out of a 1.5L and I'm sure it has the potential to destroy most cars at an autocross but why does it have to be so ugly?
I really think the ugliness is part of the appeal. Sort of a car you don't really care about, but you know is capable. And this particular one is a stripper, no A/C, no P/W, nothing. So....probably on the lighter side of the curb weight I would assume...
ummm not to be mister negative but how is the aftermarket on that car?
Aftermarket? You mean a welder?
Steve
haha
I guess I can see the fun in that car but I expect to be seeing it out at Gainesville. How's the motor on that car? Is it one that got over-built because they put a turbo on it? What size is the stock turbo? Is there any suspension you can get or you just going to retrofit some coilovers on it? I really just want to see it built. Please hurry.
Hey guys I need some guidance here. This is the story, I listed the Turbo Sled up for sale, in thinking I want to get a bike again. I first toyed with the idea of only a bike, and soon dismissed the idea, as it would be silly. Rain, and all. So when the guy with this Spectrum contacted me with interest in the Volvo, I was ecstatic, he has a cool little car, and he would give me some fair money on top of it on trade. So here is the problem, that little car, while cool, is very far from what I have now. Crank windows, no A/C..this is a big one, and is just a basic car.
So what do you guys think? I would probably first buy a bike with the money from the Spectrum owner, then I wouldn't have to sweat working on the car, and it not running or whatever. But I would be trading in my uber practical, a/c, p/w shod Volvo for it...thoughts? My thinking is that when I'm not riding, it will be raining, and no a/c+rain=not good. But I mean at least it's a roof over my head when I need it, and two wheels under me when I want....but...I dunno...
go with the car without A/C. A/C is the worst creation ever and should not be used ever. There is no reason for A/C's. They are a complete waste and I feel sorry for anyone that has to deal with one. So since you have an A/C system in your car now, get rid of it. Dont even trade it just drive it off a bridge so no one has to deal with that A/C system again.
Thats probably not good advice but I just got done with an A/C class and I dont want to see anything with a refrigeration cycle ever again.
Dammit, what was the name of it..... Isuzu I-Mark....dammit. Anyways....it was a light hatchback, NA, suspension was designed by Lotus, and it wasn't hideously ugly. I came close to getting one when I was 18, it just never worked out. Maybe it was an RS....I'm gonna go do some research now.
Isuzu Impulse I believe is what you're talking about. Not a bad car. We had one in the neighborhood for awhile that we got for free from a teacher. It ended up beeing smashed into trees.
oh yea. Steve, do you have a bike now? or do you just want to trade so you can buy a bike?

Trade so I can buy a bike. The guy with the Spectrum offered me a fair sum on top of it for the Wagon, which I would use to buy a bike. I told myself I would never mod a car again unless I had another mode of transport, so that's where the bike comes into play. Maybe this little car might even be fun to drive, in which case I can do whatever I want to it, and not worry about it starting. What do you think?
It sounds like a good deal but you might regret selling the volvo later on. Especially if the chevy non heavy doesnt end up beeing any fun. I say just keep the volvo and save for a bike or get the one you're building finished.

Thats what I was thinking. And I'd really like to finish the bike I have. Just because I said I would. Nevermind the fact that it's needed a new...everything...
Yeah, I don't know where the lip/skirts came from. But I like them. There was an option on the I Mark to have a Lotus tuned suspension. Stiffer springs, stronger damping, and stiffer sways. Probably unobtainable. But we'll see. I may just drive it and not do anything to it. Probably not. But I'm going to try.
