Well most of you know that I got a turbo miata and let me tell you it is a blast to drive. Things that have been done/fixed since I have had it.
Fixed turbo lag problem(waste gate was not tight) No more muffler just straight pipe. Changed the oil Got new dip stick turned the boost back down to 7/8psi
Things wanted New suspension(Koni's) Sway bars Oil temp gauge and EGT gauge New Boost controler Bigger down pipe and exhaust Roll bar(hard dog)
well here is the thing when we tightend the waste gate it went up to 16 psi, pretty much the waste gate was loose there for over working the turbo. tightend it and boost went to what it really was. Turned it down and now it pulls harder on 7/8 psi then it did b4 on 10psi.
But from what i read it I retard the timing a little and then give it a little more gas i can go up to 15 psi and people are putting down like 230whp!!!!
or blow-up............dont start messing with the timing
It's pretty well documented on the forums. As long as he doesn't eff it up, he should be ok. The Miata+boost combo has been around since forever, besides that though, the engines are stupid cheap. And if it does go kaput, then I see a 1.8 in it's future.
Hey if it blows up you could always build the next motor........ lol. Seriously though if it has been done on the miata boards on several accounts i wouldn't doubt that it'll work out.
Ok so fixed the brake problem, also hooked up a rear fog light and fixed the front lip. Now it is time for suspension. I am getting stock springs for free and then the only thing left will be koni struts and sway bar or bar's. After that it will be time for the bigger down pipe and exhaust and then roll bar......I am really excited.
Ok so little problem, driving home and noticed that i am boosting 11 and the a/f gauge is going all the way lean to were it doesnt even light up.....I am pretty sure that isnt good. So i need to turn the boost down tomorrow.
